Of Virtue share important message about mental health with “Torn Apart”

April 12 2018, 10:58 AM EDT By AltPress

Michighan based metalcore band Of Virtue are teaming up with Hope For The Day and Alternative Press to release their new track "Torn Apart," which deals with the struggles of suicide and mental health.

In an effort to raise awareness and share a message of hope, the band are donating a portion of proceeds from all song sales to Hope For The Day, an organization focused on suicide awareness outreach in the music community.

Read a message from vocalist Tyler Ennis below:

"This song is very personal to myself and the band. I went through a very traumatic experience regarding with someone I held very close and it really put me in a bad place, and hurting for them. Writing this song allowed me to release a lot of frustration I had with the situation. Something we'd like to make very apparent is that no one going through these times is alone. It's ok to hurt, this is natural, but you have a support system—be it a friend, family or even a stranger. We're humans, we don't want to see each other hurt. This is why we've partnered up with an amazing suicide/mental health awareness foundation such as Hope For the Day. They have been doing outreach campaigns in the music community for a long while and their message not only aligns with the message we're trying to send through "Torn Apart" but also with what we believe in as a band.

"To see a change in the world, you have to be willing to talk about things and do things that may be uncomfortable and suicide is one of the leading causes of death in general. From teens to veterans. Hope For the Day, we believe, is the right partner to help put our message in the most appropriate manner and in the meantime, we're donating a portion of all proceeds from sales and streams to their foundation. We are grateful that they've partnered with us our spread through this message. If this is a cause you believe in we urge you to check their website out, donate, or spin "Torn Apart" and we'll donate for you!
Thank you so much, to Alternative Press, to Hope For the Day, and to our beloved fans, for allowing our band to have a platform and share our voice, our message about our concerns regarding suicide and mental health. To those reading this: You are not alone."
